We are the male and female spouses, grandparents, parents, siblings, and direct and adopted descendants of members of The American Legion. We support military veterans, active duty service members and their families through community volunteer work, advocacy and youth programs.
The American Legion Auxiliary was founded in 1919, during the first national convention of the American legion. We are one of the nation's most prominent supporters of veterans, service members and their families, from helping to draft the G.I. Bill in 1944, and to advocating for veterans on Capitol Hill, the non-partisan American Legion family is instrumental in advancing legislation that improves the quality of life for our veterans.
Welcome to the American legion Auxiliary Post 77. Our monthly meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month, at 523 Bush St., Woodland, California. Our telephone number is (530)379-6036.
Social Activities
The Auxiliary raise funds by hosting regular events at the post. These funds are then used to support, the local community, veterans, and service families. To see a list of upcoming events go to the events page in the menu.

Veterans Day and Memorial Day
Two major events in our calander each year are Memorial Day and Veterans' Day. In preparation for Memorial Day we iron each of the small flags that will be placed on the graves of all the veterans in Woodland cemetary. Our secretary participates in both ceremonies, placing a wreath in honor of the fallen. On Memorial Day one of our members recites the "Poem Of The Poppies"
Following each of the ceremonies the Auxiliary hosts a luncheon at the post for our veterans, service members and the local community. This is a very popular luncheon.
On Veteran's Day, our Auxiliary President, escorted by a Legion member and a Sons Of The Legion member, places a wreath in honor of the fallen.

Veterans Support
We collect and donate shoes, clothes, hygiene supplies, rain wear and gift cards to the Sacramento stand down each year. The Sacramento is a brings together State, Federal agencies and non-profit service providers to create a comprehensive support that encourage and assists homeless veterans, high risk veterans of becoming homeless, to include Guard and Reservists in addressing the multiple problems they face.
We donate gifts cards to veterans and their families on Thanksgiving and Christmas each year. We also offer support to veterans who are experiencing short term difficulties.
The Sacramento Stand Down is an annual 3 day event to help veterans who are homeless or at risk.
This year the stand down was held at Mather Field Air Base.

Youth Programs
Each year we give two scholarships to local high school seniors. We raise funds to send 2 high school girls to Boys and Girls State, which is a National American legion Program. We support the local head start program with schools supplies, toys, and clothes plus donating schools supplies directly to local public schools.

Support For American Legion Post 77 Activities.
We support Post 77 with many of its fund raising activities, including the Yolo County fairground parking, the annual Yolo County Christmas festival of lights, and the 4th of July fireworks booth, and the annual crab and shrimp dinner in January. We also support the activities including the successful Post 77 baseball team program.
The fairground parking is an important fund raiser each year that requires full support.
