LOCAL EVENTS
Post 77 hosts both the annual Veteran’s Day event ceremony outside the old court house, and the memorial day remembrance ceremony in Woodland ceremony. On memorial day the lanes within the cemetery are lined with donated casket flags that covered the coffins. In addition our members put up and take down the flags that line Main St. in Woodland on all days such as 4th July, President’s day, Veteran’s day etc.
Our members also appear in many local events. These include the annual 4th July firework display at Woodland High School, the annual indigent memorial service in Woodland Cemetery, and the fallen police officers memorial day held each year on15th May.
Our Memorial Day Ceremony always draws a large crowd in the cemetery, where we remember those that have fallen in service of our country.
Veterans' Day, 11th November is celebrated each year by a ceremony outside the old court house in Woodland. It is preceded by a patriotic concert played by the Yolo Community Band, and followed by lunch at the post hosted by the Post 77 Auxiliary.
On 15th May each year our honor guard fires a salute at the annual ceremony held by at the Police Officers' Memorial Monument in Woodland
Each year on Memorial Day we decorate Woodland cemetery with over 100 donated burial flags and place over 1000 small flags by the graves of veterans.
Each year we host the awards night for Yolo County law enforcement offices
We also host an award event for all the county Fire Departments. Recipients are all selected by their colleagues
Each year the post leads the Woodland Christmas day parade with the color guard followed by members riding jeeps
Every national holiday including 4th July, Presidents Day, Flag Day, Veterans' Day and Memorial Day members line Main Street with over 100 flags.
Youth Programs
In 1925 the American legion started a youth baseball program which celebrated its centenary in 1925. In all 82 graduates of this program are honored in the Baseball Hall Of Fame. We at post 77 are proud to say that we sponsor a team at 100%, including uniforms and travel costs.
American Legion Boys and Girls State is among the most respected and selective educational programs of government instruction for U.S. high school students. Last year Post 77 sponsoreed 14 students to attend this program. Other youth programs include sponsorship of Scout Troop 68, scholarships for graduating high school seniors and recognition awards for middle school students.

Fund Raising Activities
We cannot support the many programs without raising funds, so during the year we hold many fund-raising activities from very large to small. The most significant fund raisers each year are managing the parking at the Yolo County fair, hosting a crab feed every January to fund the baseball program, and running a 4th July fireworks booth to support youth programs, and last year we ere requested to control the traffic at the first Winter Wonderland event to be held in the county fairgrounds. There are also many smaller activities such as supporting "Toys For Tots", collecting food and hosting dinners.
